R. I. P.: The Dead Fanfics Page

Have you ever wondered where fanfics go when they die? When the inspiration that spawned them dries up and leaves them starved for attention? When the author can no longer even bear to look at them because she is so ashamed of the sheer bad style and immaturity with which they were written? When the author has long since moved on to new fandoms?

They come here. To the dead fanfics page. This, my friends, is their final home. Rest in peace.

This is something that I've been meaning to do for quite some time. Go through my archive and get rid of all the stories that will likely never be finished. I mean... let's face it. I am likely never going to work on Generals' Hour ever again. It started out decent... and died by the first chapter. O_O So, I was just going to go through the page and snip out all the fics that I felt didn't warrant a place here anymore. Then I had a talk with a friend of mine. She pointed out how annoying it was when fic writers just go through their pages and remove random fanfics because they don't like them anymore. Well... she's right. O_O;;; Just because I think one of these fics is crap and my face burns with shame whenever I look at it, doesn't mean that someone out there didn't enjoy reading it, and that there isn't someone out there who would miss it if I just chucked it. Goodness knows, it happened to me often enough before I started saving all the fics I liked to my hard drive. *sighs*

So. A compromise. I'm going to take all the fics that, for whatever reason, I no longer feel are worthy of being posted on the main archive and put them on this page. Here are the main reasons why a fic may find itself moved here:

  • I'm no longer interested in the fandom.
  • My ideas about the series have altered so dramatically that I don't feel I can continue the fanfic that I started 5 years ago.
  • The fic needs a complete overhaul in order to not make me wince... and I'm too damned lazy to do it, just so I can finish a fic that I no longer care about anyway.

Of course, just because a fanfic is dead doesn't mean that I can't have a random change of heart and resurrect it. ^_^ You never know. It could happen. ^_^ *dimples*

OK, enough of my babbling. You know what's what. Have fun reading the headstones.

Headstone #1: Sailor Moon Fanfics Spawned by the DIC Dub

My very first fandom. The one that Started It All. *smiles* I still feel some tenderness for this one, and occasionally I churn out a fic for it, but most of these are very dead. I'm tired of trying to give them CPR. Maybe someday I'll go back and try to do something to spark my interest in the series... but I doubt it. I've now become so influenced in the original Japanese version that it makes going back and finishing these nearly impossible. *sighs* 'Twas fun while it lasted...

And the fics lying here are:

    The Generals' Hour
    Prologue | Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7

Thought you'd all like to know that there is fanart for this fanfic. I drew a picture of Upper Jupiter, and a sweet person named Raksha Legacy drew me pictures of Upper Jupiter and Upper Mars that are way better than mine. ^_^ Just thought you should know!

    Truly the one that started it all. My very first fanfic. ^_^ I still like the idea that spawned this fanfic. Someday I may take the idea and write a new fanfic for it... perhaps not. Maybe I should just let the dead lie with this one. -.-;;;

    Prologue | Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 (teaser)

Some explanation: This fic is... *shudders* ...very bad. I can hardly stand to go back and read it. However, it spawned a sequel that I absolutely adore. ^_^ This fanfic was set in the Silver Millenium, and while it had its moments, the overall fic is not very well written. Well, what I ended up doing was writing another Prisms fanfic set in the present day. What would have happened had these been the senshi to be reincarnated, and not the ones we typically know. I'll likely post that one someday. Once I do... maybe I'll go back and rewrite this one. But I doubt it. I'll likely decide it isn't necessary. ^_^ We'll see.

    Prologue | Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6
    Part 7 | Part 8 | Part 9 | Part 10 | Part 11 | Part 12

OK, there's fanart for this one, too. I drew a picture of Zalisite. @.@ It's not a very good picture, mind you, but it's better than my other fanart... I think. O.o

I'm in Kansas. Lauren is in Delaware. Neither of us has any time for our own projects, much less a joint one. This was fun while it lasted, it now makes me cry when I read the Rusty parts. ;_; I think this one's pretty much dead, too. If Lauren disagrees, which I doubt she will, then we'll discuss it.

    Headstone #2: Dead Teasers

*shrugs* Ano... I thought these were a good idea at the time? Not all of these are bad, I just decided that I didn't really want to write them. So, since there was no real reason to leave them on the teaser page, I thought I'd move them here. ^_^ I'll mark the bad ones so you know which to avoid... O_o

And the fics lying here are:

Untitled Voltron Lime - I think that's enough said, isn't it? ^_^ I'm going to work on this one again, eventually, but I need to really plot it out well before I worry about writing more of it... *eg*

Almost not enough of a fic to bother... O_O It's not bad, I just never really had the desire to finish it. *shrugs*

    Due South

Diefenbaker Fic - Again, mostly done, I just haven't had a chance to finish it up. *pokies Lauren* See, I told you I'd work on it! *beams*

*shrugs* More of the same. Never finished it. Pretty much over Due South.

    Tenkuu no Escaflowne

Untitled Dilandau Fic - I really want to get back to this one eventually... I liked where I was going with it, but I need to rewatch some of Escaflowne before I can really go back to writing it.

Good idea that petered out along with my interest in the series. *sighs*

    Sailor Moon

Prisms - Chapter 6 - *sweatdrop* That's all I have to say. Anyone who says I can't be influenced by nice e-mails doesn't have a clue. ^_^ I got a really nice e-mail today about Prisms and Lord-help-me, it actually put me in the mood to work on it. *more sweatdrops* *tips hat to the e-mailer, who hopefully knows who they are* It's been a while since I've been in the mood to work on the past parts of this one... Ah well - anything's possible, ne? ^_^

    ((See above notes on Prisms.))

Still with me? Good grief... ^_^ Haven't you had enough of my insane babbling, yet? Guess not... Well, there isn't really much more to say. Hope you survived your trip to the graveyard. See you back in the world of the living, minna!
